Pastor Ryan Mills STS

The Reverend Dr. Ryan D. Mills, STS, is the Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was called to be our Pastor in August 2010 by a unanimous congregational vote.

Pastor Mills, a native of Minnesota, holds a B.A. from Augsburg College, pursued graduate study at the University of Chicago Divinity School, holds the Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, and the Master of Sacred Theology degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. In 2016 he received the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) from the University of Dubuque.

“I base my ministry on the Book of Acts 2:42 which tells about the earliest Christians: ‘They continued in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, the breaking of bread and the prayers.’ I follow this pattern at Trinity: preaching God’s Word, teaching the Christian faith, presiding over the sacraments, and praying with and for my flock.”

Prior to coming to Trinity, he helped lead Lutheran campus ministry at Princeton University and served five years as a parish pastor in Dallas, Texas.

Pastor Mills is married to Dr. Kathleen Mills, a native New Englander who holds a Ph.D. in New Testament studies. They have a son, John, and a daughter, Helen.

“I base my ministry on the Book of Acts 2:42 which tells about the earliest Christians–‘They continued in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, the breaking of bread and the prayers.’ I follow this pattern at Trinity: preaching God’s Word, teaching the Christian faith, presiding over the sacraments, and praying with and for my flock.”

Pastor Mills’ prayers and liturgical writings have been published by Augsburg Fortress Press. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, watching movies, minor league baseball games, cooking, and skeet shooting.
